The Challenge
How can we develop the skills of Creative Producers in Lagos to match the current market demand within the creative sector?
Like all other major cities in the world, the COVID pandemic has heavily affected the Lagos Creative Sector; consequently affecting the seamless execution of many projects. This disruption is forcing many organizations to adapt and adopt new ways of providing services to their audiences.
This has created an opportunity for a class of creative producers with the skills required to deliver ideas in an ever-changing world. These producers need to be adaptable, flexible, able to broker and manage new relationships, create opportunities for all and deliver on the work designed.
The SOLUTION
Implement a creative sector skills development program beginning with a 5-day virtual Lab for twelve (12) Creative Producers based in Lagos - the Creative Producers Lab (CPL) Lagos.
The Lab was majorly focused on building the cohort’s skills around creative production, understanding ecosystems, building a creative enterprise, and building a network.
The outcome
Combining a series of context-specific skills development workshops, the lab equipped a cohort of twelve producers with the practical tools, confidence, and network necessary to succeed as Creative Producers in Lagos.
Via the lab, we are building a thriving network of Lagos-based producers working across theatre, film, festivals, visual art, radio, design, and fashion.
