Board Member

Dr Eka Williams has over twenty-five years of experience working at national, regional and continental levels facilitating, managing and supporting several significant initiatives and partnerships for organizations like Ford Foundation, USAID and Population Council. She has extensive experience and expertise in research, program development, management and implementation; assessment and documentation and grant-making in SRHR, HIV, LGBTI, sex work, youth development, leadership and institutional strengthening.

She also has a wide range of experience in mentoring and providing technical support to national and regional NGOs and institutions to strengthen organizational and program-related capacity, leadership and governance.

nkoyo Toyo

Board Member

Nkoyo Toyo is a Nigerian civil rights activist and governance adviser.  In 1991, she founded Gender and Development Action (GADA) in Nigeria. With the return of civil governance to Nigeria in 1999, she became more involved with politics and government. During that time and now, she worked intensively to build negotiations between agitators in the troubled Niger Delta Region of Nigeria and the central government.

Nkoyo’s interest in politics resulted in her appointment in 2008 as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Ethiopia and Djibouti as well as the country’s Permanent Representative to the African Union and the Economic Commission for Africa.

In 2011, she was elected into the Nigerian parliament, as a member of the National House of Representatives. In parliament, she championed the issues of social development and social investment.

Nkoyo has held several international positions including being a Member of the Civil Society Advisory Committee of the Commonwealth Foundation, the Chair of the Board of Directors of Montreal International Forum, Member of Board of Trustees of Institute of Development Studies and Member of the Board of Trustees Oxfam international.

Malaika toyo

Founder & Principal Director

Expertise: Creative Economy, Communications, Project Management

Malaika spends her time developing the vision, partnerships, funding and growth strategies for Made Culture.

Prior to this, she developed growth strategies and managed projects in the art, culture and creative industries, technology and development sector for organisations like The United Nations, Ford Foundation, Watershed, Arterial Network and A Whitespace Creative Agency.

She is also the Festival Director for Tiwa N’ Tiwa Street Art Festival.

remi olaniyi

Project Manager (Analyst)

Remi Olaniyi began her career working on projects to help young people living with disabilities develop life and work-ready skills. In the past five years, she has passionately contributed to the successful delivery of a number of capacity development initiatives in for-profit and not-for-profit organizations.

Remi holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Ashesi University. Her favorite things to do lately include listening to an amazing book or podcast and enjoying quality alone time.

Faith babalola

Project Manager (Analyst)

Faith Babalola has over 2 years experience in project and programme management and implementation. As a project manager at Made Culture her responsibilities include monitoring and reporting on project progress, managing conversations with stakeholders and developing project scope and schedule.

Faith holds a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Bowen University and when she’s not working, you’ll find her engrossed in a novel, sketching a design, or beneath heavy blankets fast asleep.

CYNTHIA ELIJAH

Project Manager (Analyst)

Cynthia Elijah is a development professional with over three years of experience addressing persisting social challenges through very structured problem-solving approaches that have consistently produced high-impact results; transforming lives and building communities. She is committed to driving transformational change and improving the lives of vulnerable citizens.

Cynthia graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History and International Studies from Redeemer’s University.

Uduak is a Public Health Specialist with over 9 years experience managing reproductive health and HIV related interventions in international settings. She has a Masters Degree in Public Health Epidemiology from University of Liverpool, United Kingdom and a Bachelors degree in Environmental Health from Tshwane University of Technology, South Africa.

gbemisola abiola

Expertise: Refugee Crisis Management

Gbemisola holds a Master’s degree in Social Anthropology from Harvard University and has more than a decade’s experience working in research and development, civil society, government, education, publishing, and media organizations. More recently, she has worked with a team of researchers at the Belfer Center at Harvard University where she conducted research on how weak health security intelligence systems impact emergency responses to the Ebola epidemic in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
